EU funding for greener Radenci

SLOVENIA, October 9 - The project Green heart of Radenci aims to ensure and improve the accessibility, attractiveness and functionality of green infrastructure in Radenci. The project will improve the living environment, increase the community’s resilience to climate change, and enhance the quality of life for residents and visitors. The basic idea of the project is based on the restoration and revitalisation of degraded urban areas in the centre of Radenci and their transformation into high-quality, publicly accessible green spaces.

The investment will involve removing damaged and unsuitable paved surfaces and planting new shrubs, trees, and perennial plants. This will restore the area’s original character. The park will be designed as an open space for learning, relaxation, recreation, events, and socialising, as well as a central hub for gatherings and intergenerational connection. The construction work will renovate 1.66 hectares of green space.

The project is implemented under Slovenia’s EU Cohesion Policy Programme 2021-02027. The European Regional Development Fund will contribute €1,313,250 to the project, which has a total value of €1,745,988.21. The Ministry of the Environment and Spatial Planning is responsible for implementing the project, and the Municipality of Radenci is the beneficiary.
